NC11 Challenger Rod Honeycutt Leverages Leadership

Politics is fraught with challenges, especially when it comes to political campaigns. The challenges faced in the NC11 election have been plenty, and not always positive. The tides of change are moving in, and the incumbent is continually facing criticism in the media. It would seem Cawthorn’s choices leave much to be desired. Those choices have put him in the cross-hairs of his challengers. How he will fair in the upcoming election is up for debate in the 11th District.

Republican Town Hall

During the WLOS Tv Republican Town Hall, which was titled ‘Your voice. Your Choice’. A forum held by the Republican candidates running for Congress in the 11th District in North Carolina. Republican candidates discussed various issues facing the nation. Each candidate was given the floor in order to put forth their perceptions and beliefs about what Western North Carolina needs. At times, the responses were cringeworthy. Further to exacerbate the issues was the interruption by the incessant sniffing of whomever was recording the footage in the Hall.

The state of the economy featured heavily during the debate. Each candidate put forth their plans and thoughts on what was wrong with the economy. One candidate after the other pretty much voiced what the other was saying with their own self-styled rhetoric. Few were showing real leadership prowess, and it was like trying out for a football team or chair-leading group.

However, during the questions and answers, one thing was clear. No one had anything good to say about the other party. A few of the challengers were quite happy to drop all perceptive problems, squarely at the feet of the party in power. When asked about the potential of both parties working together. It was emphatically clear that no one had anything good to say about the others, and that it was clearly a Superman complex going on with agendas afoot in NC11. Yet one candidate stood out.

One NC11 Candidate Stood Out

Col Retd. Rod Honeycutt; a native of western North Carolina who was considered the underdog due to his lack of attendance in WNC over the years, became the clear candidate of choice. Perhaps underestimated at the beginning, Honeycutt made his presence felt with his – ‘Boots On The Ground Campaign” in all 15 Counties. His absence was, of course, the 37 years he spent serving his country, and leading men and women through conflicts and hostile environments throughout the world.

He may not have lived in Western North Carolina over the years, but his roots were firmly in WNC. In his own words, he was born, baptized and brought up in the area before joining the military. Now Honeycutt is back to continue his service in NC11.

Honeycutt Stands Out With Leadership and Finding Common Ground.

What stood out during the debate was the clear power of Honeycutts experience. This culminated over many years leading and serving the nation – resulting in more leadership skills than the rest of the field combined. As a consequence of his military service and ability to negotiate and lead, it is not so unsurprising that when all the other candidates are pointing fingers and playing the blame game. Honeycutt opts to find the common thread. This common thread is the catalyst to build and mend bridges that remain broken. Honeycutt’s voice is not one of bravado, showmanship and claiming false perceptions such as “I am not a politician, i’m a businessman” according to one of the other candidates, which is highly entertaining, if not laughable.

He comes across as a real leader who has the support of other leaders in District 11. He listens rather than scoffs and shows little fear, whilst other’s struggle with common concepts. It also must be noted that Honeycutt was the only individual to thank the hosts of the event.
